If you like to travel you should check out the northeast Iowa tourism attractions. There are a few things about the area that are little known except for the locals. For instance did you know that area was full of underground caves? They are formed because the rock around there is mostly limestone and the water running underground in the area easily dissolves this rock forming a cave. The farmers of the area are well aware of the fact as every once in a while a farmer will unknowingly park his tractor over one of these caves and leave. When he returns he finds that implement at the bottom of a sink hole. The weight of the machine having cracked through the thin ceiling of the cave after time vs weight hit the right point. The only way to recover the tractor is to rent a large helicopter and have it lifted out of the hole, not an inexpensive chore. Many of these caves are actually very small and some of them are quite large. Exploring caves is not a big pastime in the area so it is unknown just how many of these caves there are in the area.

I wanted to do some traveling close to home, somewhere in the western Iowa tourism region, so I grabbed the car keys and hit I29 north. There were some really wonderful views of the hills from the interstate. If people think Iowa is all flat they should see this side of the state. The hills were made by blowing dust in prehistoric times. The dirt piled up much like sand dunes and formed some magnificent cliffs and bluffs. In fact, for those lf you who don’t know, it was these bluffs that Council Bluffs was named for. On the other side of the highway you can catch glimpses of the Missouri river in all of it’s splendor. I pulled into some kind of sanctuary along the way and there was a tour going on. It seems the migration north has started for several species of birds. I observed eagles which I was told now nest in the area. There were also quite a few geese but they were all Canadian geese, as I was growing up we lived on the flight path for geese and I remember there were always snow geese along with the Canadian geese. Maybe it was just because it was a different flight path.

For years, vacationers have been drawn to the beautiful scenery that Cancún has to offer. There is, after all, a reason why the Mexican government chose this coastal city to be its tourist flagship. Blue waters, white sands, and plenty of room for development meant that Cancún was the perfect place to draw in visitors.

One of the big draws for central Iowa tourism is the basketball team that was recently located here. This league was developed to act much as the Iowa Cubs acts for the Chicago cubs, it is more or less a farm team except that this basketball team serves two pro teams not just one. The excitement builds when one of the pro stars gets hurt and needs to come down to the lower league to do his recovery. The fans get to see big name stars play in person without having to drive all the way to Chicago, Minneapolis, Kansas City, or St Louis – all the area cities that have pro basketball teams. The tickets are not nearly as expensive and the crowds are smaller. This lets the fans actually get close to the players to collect autographs. It also allows fans to be able to see some of the local players improve and that develops loyalty to that player and by extension the pro team that the player transfers to when he has earned the right to do so. This is a winning operation for both fans and teams. The teams actually make money while having a place for an underperforming player to heal.

In my job, I get to travel all over the world. Although I have to work long hours, the opportunities for high pay and exotic travel destinations make it worth it. Still, I often have regrets that I don’t get to spend more time with my family. I have been waiting for the perfect destination to come along on a business trip, but recently it has been slim pickings. When I was picked by my boss to go to an Orlando convention, I jumped at the opportunity. I decided I would bring my family along. My daughter was just getting to the age when she would appreciate Disney World, and it seemed like one of the best vacation opportunities in years.

Through the years my husband and I have tried to give our children a well rounded childhood. We have done this by spending time with them playing educational games when they were small and board games as they matured. We involved them in the worship community and taught them the reasons why we worship together as well as serve one another within the spiritual community. We volunteered as a family to help with various community events, like picking up garbage along the roadside ditches and helping at the area food shelf.
