TAG Heuer is a world top leading watch maker and the 4th most important watch vendors in the wristwatch market. This dynamic watch company was founded in 1860 by very talented Edouard Heuer. After his first workshop settled down in St. Imier, (Switzerland) Heuer put all his effort to design and improve watch making technology. From the beginning, progress, precision and innovation were the very core value of Edouard Heuer and his watch -TAG Heuer.
In 1869, Heuer had his revolutionary invention that patented the first watch stem-winding system. Though his invention spirit and persistence, Heuer accomplished his first dashboard chronograph developed for automobiles in 1911. He also gave it a fantastic name called “Time of Trip”. After five years, Heuer launched the patent of Micrograph, the world’s first born wristwatch with chronometer function. Amazingly it is capable of measuring 1/100th of a second.
TAG Heuer is being artistic in nature, which also has strong connection with sports. It produced the best world’s reference of the most reliable and prestigious sports watches. Even in 1920, the Heuer company first time officially joined time-kept the Olympic Games competitions. From the mid of twenty century Heuer timepieces were utterly popular in auto racing sport. Till now, the Formula 1 series is one of best sports watches in the world.
Not long in 1933, Heuer invented the Autavia to the world. Autavi is the dashboard timer that used for automobiles and airplanes. Since 1960s’ TAG continually introduced the Autavia chronograph and Carrera chronograph that brought extraordinary success. Then TAG decided to make the Carrera chrono converted into the company’s icon. As the pioneer in the watch industry, the Heuer company started to manufacture the world’s first chronograph, capable to measure the 1/1000th of a second in fifty years ago.
In 1985, the TAG Group Holdings SA bought over the Heuer company and became well-known watch brand TAG Heuer. Another important turning point for TAG was became the official timekeeper of Formula 1 races in 1992. The leading luxury goods company – LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton S.A became final owner of TAG Heuer by paying 1.15 billion francs ($739 million).
