Wilderness survival is especially important if you are a person who likes the outdoors. Sometimes, circumstances can take a turn for the unexpected and the best way to survive is to be prepared by mastering some very necessary skills.
Be able to tell direction. Navigation skills can lead you in the right direction and get you out of the wilderness, literally. Have a compass with you and know how to read it.
Try learning the more advanced ways of finding direction. These are skills taught by experienced outdoorsmen who can teach you how to tell direction even when the sun isn’t shining, or observing prevailing winds or by looking at “indicators” on rocks, melting snow, trees and shrubs.
Survival Quotations is where you can find out a lot more on wilderness survival.

Here are the things that Mark always takes along on any camping trip. And you’ve got to have your Medical Survival Kit…
1. The most important piece of paper that any camper must have is the map, which will serve as a guide to show where they are going. Mark always bought a new one every year since nature has its way of changing things over time.
2. Mark was a soldier trained in the old school. While many troops relied on the global positioning system, this person still felt that the compass was still better choice. This device isn’t powered by batteries and can be used anytime together in conjunction with a map in hand.

Survival medical kit: you will never have to worry even if you are dropped into the wilderness.
Learn to find shelter. Caves, overhanging cliffs, boulders, even fallen trees can be used to protect yourself from the elements. Know what you need to build a proper structure that can keep away the sun, wind, rain and even snow. Be able to build a shelter from the only available materials in your environment.
Build a fire. The importance of a fire cannot be emphasized enough. A fire can keep you warm, light up your area, cook food and discourage animals from coming close.
How To Master the Wilderness and Survive is where you can learn more about this practical knowledge.

Cost is one of the main factors concerning new versus used RV’s, but there are several other factors to consider too. If you’re only going to use the RV two weeks out of the year, a used RV might be your best decision. On the other hand, if you are planning on going fulltiming or traveling cross country, a new RV with a full warranty would be a better choice.

When it comes time to go hunting, fishing, target practicing, or any other number of recreational activities, the outerwear you use can make an enormous difference in your success. Sporting fleece jackets are a great way to keep the elements away while staying mobile enough to get the task done. If your idea of a great vacation is being pampered, wilderness camping is not for you. Since these camps generally offer a variety of high excitement activities with not much in the way of modern conveniences pampering is not an option. However, during a week or two of wilderness camping, children can learn important lessons such as survival skills, first aid and wilderness safety. As a plus, kids will also be forced away from the television and video games for a spell so they can connect with nature while wilderness camping.

Don’t be afraid to buy something like that, but be sure to check the item out before you buy it. Ask someone if you can open a box that looks like it has been opened, and check over other items for defects. If you find a defect that you can live with in clearance tents, you may be able to negotiate an even better deal.

If you are going to travel around the state of Missouri you really need to pick up a copy of the Missouri travel guide. In that small booklet you will find a wealth of information about the state and the things to see and do here. There are many attractions that are pointed out that you would miss if you didn’t know about them, such as the largest collection of electric pole insulators in the world. Really, wouldn’t you just kick yourself if you were close to that one and missed it? I know I would. Of course there is a whole section dedicated to Branson, the one town in Missouri built almost completely with tourism dollars. There is also an entire section based on the Ozark mountain area, one of the most spectacular places in the world. Of course all the lakes can’t be mentioned as there are too many but there is quite a bit on Table Rock Lake and the surrounding area. It will show you where the best fishing spots are and where you are likely to see a rock concert. All in all it is a well put together representation of what the state of Missouri has to offer.

The Wildcat Campground is on the banks of Lake Burton in a wildlife preserve and offers a more primitive experience of Georgia camping. Campers can truly get close to nature and fetch water from the creek, which must be boiled or treated. Trailers are catered for but there is a 22 foot length limit. Each site has a tent pad, lantern post, fire pit and picnic table.

The northern Iowa Tourism board is trying to increase travel to northern Iowa. It seems that most of the tourism is done on the east side of the state and in the Des Moines area. Those are both large population centers and the board thinks people should see more of rural Iowa. Iowa was built on a rural heritage and the citizens need to learn more about their roots. A wise man once said you can’t where you are going if you haven’t seen where you have been. In that vein it was decided that the northern part of the state is the closest to what Iowa looked like a long time ago than any other part of the state, at least as far as the tall grass prairie that this land started out being. This is the type of land where our forefathers hitched their horses to a plow and started tilling the good earth. They soon found that this land was excellent for growing corn, and why not, corn is actually a grass its self. It is one of the grasses that asperities moisture at a high rate. Actually that is why there is so much humidity in the state, it is all put there by the corn.

Eastern Iowa tourism is increasing as more and more advertising is done for the sights to see in that area. More and more people are traveling across I80 and the advertising for the Quad Cities area has people pulling off to take a look. That area is now starting to become a destination rather than a drive by. There are several tours of the Mississippi for the outdoors lovers. The summer tour include a boat ride along a twenty mile stretch and a trip to a campground on an island in the middle of the river. A night spent there is truly an adventure. The winter tours include several stops for eagle watching as the population of our nations symbol has increased dramatically in the past few years. For the non-outdoors types the Circa 21 has been a big draw for evening entertainment. Circa21 is a supper club where one can have dinner followed by a play by professional actors. It’s not quite Broadway but it is much better than the local plays. The entertainment is usually over by ten o’clock which allows several hours at one of the local nightclubs. There has been an increase in motels to serve the increased popularity of the area.

There are some amazing places to travel to in Illinois. The southern Illinois attractions are a special favorite of mine. Nothing against northern Illinois, but the south is much warmer, especially this time of year. If you are the hardier type you will find campgrounds that are open year around. Most of these are within walking distance of a place to fish or hunt or do all sorts of outdoor sports. One of my favorite campgrounds is in the woods on the edge of a valley. I don’t know quite how it works, but when the winds blow you can only hear it. For some reason the winds never make it through the trees. You can build a campfire and just sit and enjoy the fire and the friends if that is what you want. Sitting there with your favorite adult beverage talking to friends will make the hours just slip away. I can’t tell you the number of times that I have looked at my watch and noticed it was midnight already. But then, who cares? I camp for the relaxation it provides. I don’t have an set time to get up no do I set any particular time to go to bed. Just enjoying the relaxation recharges my batteries and gets me ready for the challenges that lay ahead.

Life offers a many different flavors of experiences, some indoor and some outdoor. We will talk about an outdoor experience that provides a pleasure that many of us never get to sample in a full lifetime. For those of us who do get to experience this remarkable hobby, sport (Bass Fishing), there simply is no other sport like it. It’s an exciting, exhilarating, and very gratifying recreation. The problem is that for the many who would like to experience bass fishing, getting started is the most difficult part and is what this article is going to cover.
Basic Information To Help Get You Started
Lets first get familiar with some basic information that will help you on your way to getting started. The first thing is, Tackle. Tackle consists of the fishing equipment that will be used to catch the fish with. First is the fishing rod and reel, with. First is the fishing rod and reel, a five to six foot medium stiff spinning or casting rod in the mid-priced range is sufficient for a start. Generally when you go to purchase a fishing license (yes like a car you will need a license to be legal in Florida any way) available usually at the same place where you will purchase your fishing equipment, you could tell the attendant what type of fish it is that your are going after and they can point you to the right rod and reel set-up. I usually go with the matched sets (rod and reels already set-up) they are matched for weight and are usually a balanced set. To checked to see if the set-up is matched correctly simply lay the rod across your opened hand. The rod should lie perfectly still if the rod and reel balance is even. The weight of the reel should equal the weight of the rod. An unbalanced rod and reel set-up could very well cause a lot of wrist discomfort after a day of use. Second is the fishing line, then you have the lead, hooks, corks and an assortment of different types of Lures. Most Bass fish are caught by using Lures. Lures are artificial bait, made to look real bait and they are manufactured in a large array of styles and designs all of which are for the sole purpose of attracting fish, preferably Bass in this case. There are Lures that are designed for the specific purpose of attracting Bass fish on demand. To get you started get a small assortment of these type lures: spinners, deep divers and plastic worms. Crank baits are another type lure popular in catching Bass fish: very colorful perch, sunfish, or minnows are the selection that they com in. Crank baits are generally used in underwater presentations while spinner type lures are for top water presentations. The Idea is to mimic (recreate) a Bass natural food source or prey, (foods that a bass fish naturally seek out for food). Read full article here:Learn Bass Fishing Secrets From The Real Pros.
