African safaris were made famous by Hemingway and the tradition continues to this day with African safari tours and even a lion safari can be had.
In one way or another, we have all had contact with the work or read about the life of the famous American writer Ernest Hemingway. We certainly don’t associate Hemingway with African safaris or wilderness.
Those who know a bit about the man have read of swashbuckling tales of drinking, bull fighting and hard living. We knew him as an avid sportsman who even penned one of his great books, The Sun Also Rises, around the annual running of the bulls in Spain.

One of the most satisfying feelings you can experience when fishing is to catch a fish using a fishing lure you created yourself.
You don’t need to be a great craftsman to make your own fishing lures. If you can get hold of the couple of required tools, you can have some glorious lures. The lures might not quite be professionally perfect, but they will catch fish for you, and that’s all that matters the most.
And if you create your own lures, you’ll be far more successful at catching fish in the long run. The reason for this is psychological. An angler who uses a store-bought retard or hop tends to be wavering about cast of characters it around rocks, logs, piles, and rank and file of seaweed.
A species generally encountered in the northern fresh waters of the globe, pike is a favorite catch for many hobbyists. The maximum length one such fish can reach is 1.83 meters and its weight can go up to 35 kilograms.
If you are after pike, don’t forget to take special pike fishing lures, or you’ll fail to catch. But before concerning about what lures and accessories to use, it is good to find out about the eating habits specific to the species.
Usually lures and baits are inspired from the diet that each species of fish survives on. Pike feast on shoal fish and they sometimes prey on their smaller kin. Insects, amphibians and even ducklings are part of the menu if there is nothing better to find.

After deciding to get a boat you’ll find yourself trying to figure out how to pay for it. As discussed before cash is best. If your boat involves some financing through a credit line, unsecured loan, home equity loan or from a boat lender choosing the right lender and financing can be as important as finding the right boat.
There are a lot of sources of financing and several things to consider when financing a boat. The first is how long do you plan to keep the boat? If it’s you first boat it will be sensible to find a loan that is very flexible so you can pay it off or even trade it in and not still owe payments. I kept my first boat for 9 months and then bought a bigger, faster, better one.
If your new boat is the one of your dreams you can expect to have it financed for a longer time which does make it more important to get a cheaper or fixed rate loan and yet have terms that give you a monthly payment you can afford.
If you are going to keep a boat for a long, long time and you can afford it you should get a new boat. If you can’t afford a new boat or have doubts about owning a boat then for sure go look at buying a used boat.
While buying a used boat isn’t to glamorous it is a great decision for some people. The waterways and lakes are filled with people who have more money than average people and some will go way beyond what they can afford just to have a very fancy boat. Don’t do that and don’t get in over your head financially for a boat.
Most people don’t consider the rich guy who has a 60 foot yacht, and take it out once or twice a year, a boater at all. What really matters is being out on the water doing what you find to be fun. You can do this just fine in a used boat and be a great boater at the same time. Being out there is what counts, not what you are out there in.

Duck hunting is a lot of fun and waterfowl hunting is one of the more popular hunting sports in the world. Duck and goose hunters are a pretty social group, on the whole and it’s as much a social calling as it is a hunt. If you’ve ever been to a Ducks Unlimited banquet you know what I mean. If you haven’t been to one I highly recommend you go.
Waterfowl hunting has a culture all its own and even has it’s own dress code. If you aren’t dressed right your buddies are going to laugh at you. Of course it also helps you stay concealed while in or out of a hunting blind. Warmth is also important so be sure to get good hunting clothes. It’s hard to hunt when you are shivering.
It’s almost time for spring snow goose hunting in Eastern South Dakota and the 2010 spring snow goose migration will be well underway by the end of March or earlier. Seems hunting is best right at the snow line and that’s where the geese are congregated or were. It’s a bit late to get some snow geese this year but next spring will be really good.
A federal snow goose stamp is not required and in SD you can shoot 20 snow geese per day with no possesion limit. For the cost of a license you can pretty much eat goose year around because there are sure a ton of them around waiting to be shot.

If you’re looking for ice fishing houses rental in Eastern South Dakota around the Lake Thompson, Madison and Watertown areas you just found what you were looking for. There are two large ice fishing houses for rent. To make it even better both fish houses are new.
Ice fishing shacks are 8 by 20
Each fish house has ten holes
One wall heater per house
Battery hookup for lights in each
Four beds in each fish house
Easy set up
Each wheel cranks up individually including the hitch.
You should bring 1 additional small heater for the back of the fishing shack. Also I’d suggest a lantern to save on your battery.
When the water temperature dips below 50 degrees bass fishing becomes a real challenge. When the cold water temperatures of winter arrive bass head toward deep water. While in the fall you were able to find bass back in shallow coves and creeks where they were busy foraging preparing for long periods of winter inactivity, once the water temperatures drop they migrate away from these areas into the main body of the lake where they are able to find areas with deeper water. Often they will be found along sharp drops where they can move in and out of the deeper water into a more shallow area to feed. A depth finder will be an invaluable tool for winter bass fishing.
It is important to remember that because a bass is cold blooded, a decrease in temperature also brings a decrease in the fish’s activity level. This decrease in activity is a result of a decrease in the fish’s metabolism. Put simply, because a bass does not digest his food as quickly in winter he does not need to feed as often.

So you think you want to own a boat. If you like being outdoors on the water boating is a great idea. They are more fun than most people can imagine. However boats are also more hassle than most people think they will be. That’s why you need all the information this site has to offer before you buy a new boat.
Personally I’ve owned 12-14 different boats from small twelve foot aluminum fishing craft to a 20 foot pontoon you could pull tubes or skiers with. I’ve owned inboards and outboards, fishing boats and fast ones that you could pull three or four skiers.
My suggestions would be to figure out what you want to use it for, who’s going to be with you and how much you can afford to spend on a boat. The upfront costs are pretty clear but the cost of ownership does surprise some people at the costs or time for maintenance and for just using it.
Boats don’t get great gas mileage and the faster your craft goes the more fuel you will burn. This wasn’t a consideration for most people until gas went way up. Parts, supplies and repairs are also costly. Don’t underestimate your aftermarket costs or you will be very surprised. Even boat accessories aren’t cheap.
I spent a lot of time looking for lake view real estate in South Dakota and in MINN. I figured it would be easy to find lake real estate in South Dakota but it wasn’t. There is now a south dakota lakes and streams assoc at South Shore in SD but the net wasn’t as advanced as it is now when I was looking for a lake lot so I never found it. It probably would have been easier if I had.
There is a lot of land around SD lakes but it’s not near as developed as all of the lakes in MN are. I was quite surprised when I discovered that. When I checked the SD DNR lake home regulations I also discovered they weren’t as strict as Minnesotas were. Lake shore prices were much cheaper too.
I thought about buying on the Missouri River because I read many walleye fishing report lake for oahe in SD but I really didn’t want to go that far west. Eventually I settled on Lake Thompson between Lake Preston and DeSmet SD.
I wanted to be on a lake that was great for fishing. Particularly for northerns, walleyes and perch. Thompson is a great lake for those and crappies and smallmouth bass.

Big fish are a lot more fun to catch than little fish. At least they are for me. I’d much rather catch a 10# walleye than a limit of 1 1/2 to 2 pound walleyes. I know how to catch bigger fish, do you?
Catching big fish isn’t the easiest thing in the world but you can maximize your chances of catching bigger fish just by going to a lake that is noted for big fish.
Asking at your local bait shop is one of the easiest ways to find lakes with big fish but there is another method that works even better. More on that in a minute. Pay attention to the big fish pictures at any bait shop you go into. If they have the lake where they were caught it makes it a lot simpler.
Start keeping track of the lakes where the big fish come from. If you’re like me you get to quite a few baitshops in a year and you should be able to put quite a few lakes into your notebook. The more baitshops with pics of big fish from the same lake the better off you will be. Fish those lakes for those species.
In this article I’m going to provide you with some extremely effective river fishing tips to make you a more effective angler. If you’ve ever wanted to know how to fish a river this article is a great place to start. More than twenty years ago I was taught how to fish a river from someone I’ve always considered to be a river fishing master. Before he passed on, this man was able to hook and land trophy fish out of heavily fished small rivers in central Pennsylvania with a great degree of regularity.
These tips come directly from some of the tips and techniques that this man used to employ. I’ve been using them to may advantage for a couple of decades, and now you’ll be able to do the same. As you will see, these tips aren’t complicated; in fact they are quite simple. This is because simplicity in fishing is what my mentor believed in.
If you want to know how to fish a river these river tips should be added to your fishing arsenal sooner, rather than later.
Tread Lightly – In most instances (at least for me and my mentor before me) river fishing involves wading. This means that you want to tread lightly and make as little noise as you can. Avoid stepping on and breaking sticks, and rocks’ banging together is a bad thing. Remember sounds travels great distances underwater and fish will become ’spooked’ if they are hearing sounds that are out of the ordinary. Tread lightly and watch your step so as not to make too many unnecessary sounds.

Leaving on vacation in a hurry is not a good thing to do. Even if you booked a last minute holiday, then do things according to a strict plan. Make sure you don’t make these mistakes.
By the way, are you going to Amsterdam? Make sure to have a look at Amsterdam apartments. Top choices from a top expert in Amsterdam vacation rentals.
Bringing the wrong money:
While most people remember that their currency won’t be accepted in the country they’re traveling too, a lot of people forget that they have to stop over in the middle as well. Canadian travelers, for instance, often find themselves stopping over in the United States before getting to Mexico, South America or even overseas destinations. Not having US currency for the US airports can cost an ugly premium, if the money is accepted at all.
Not understanding how your credit card works:
People think that last minute travel will be a breeze because they can just pick up and go, and their credit card will help them with everything they need when they’re gone. What they often overlook is that some credit cards charge a hefty premium every time they are used overseas. Using it a few times a day will be incredibly expensive in those cases.

Candy apples have been around for a very long time, but you can get them in all types of forms today, and you can make them on your own. These Halloween treats are always welcome, as most love the tart and sweet combination. Harry Potter adult costumes are another option, but you should make sure you do some practice runs with these Halloween treats. It can be hard to get them right the first try. Even better, you can add whatever you want to them. Use your imagination and make them something special.

What you may find is that you are going to want to have two different types of Halloween treats ready to go on Halloween night. This is due to safety issues. Some parents will not allow their children to take anything that is not in a sealed package that came from a store or a wear which is not queen of hearts costume pattern. That is understandable, and that may be a rule that you have too. However, that does not mean that you can not come up with some interesting Halloween treats that you can give to the families that you know very well, or to send to school with your kids.

Bryce Canyon National Park has over 50 miles of hiking trails with varying difficulties. A good many of theses hikes center in and around the Bryce Amphitheater, where there exists a large number of eroded rock formations, or hoodoos. There’s a lot more to Bryce canyon, don’t miss it…
Day Hikes:
Fairyland Loop:
This is a strenuous hike that will take you through spectacular hoodoos and beautiful scenery across the rim and into the canyon. It covers 8 miles of meandering trails with many elevation changes, so take plenty of water. The hike will usually take between 4 and 5 hours. The trail has a spur to Tower Bridge and integrates the Rim Trail from Sunset Point to Fairyland Point.
Navajo Loop:
This trail is one of the more popular trails, although there was a rock slide on the Wall Street side in the Spring of 09 that closed off a large portion of the trail. Extreme caution is advised for this reason. This trail will take you to Two Bridges, Thors Hammer and Wall Street.
Peekaboo Loop:
From Bryce Point this trail makes a quick descent to the canyon floor. This 5.5 mile hike is considered strenuous due to the rapid elevation change and the fact that there are many trail rides involving horses and mules. The hike will take you past Wall of Windows and Three Wisemen. Pit toilets and picknic areas in the canyon.
Queen’s Garden :
This trail is considered the least difficult trail that travels to the canyon floor. Descending 320 feet, you will see lots of hoodoos on this hike. The trail is a 1.8 mile jaunt from Sunrise Point, but it is not a loop.

Diaper Bags for Dad: “Camouflaged”
Some camo diaper bags look more like totes, and some look more like backpacks or large fanny packs, but having choices is a great thing, especially when there are so few options generally offered to dads who need diaper bags.
This is a great way to show that dads are just as important as moms and that they should be encouraged to spend time with their new babies.

Like a Peg Perego diaper bag, a Storksak diaper bag, or other popular brands, Skip Hop diaper bags are popular, functional, and have everything that a parent is looking for.
Some parents are concerned about paying more for a Skip Hop diaper bag when they could go down to their local retail chain store and buy something that costs less, but when you buy a Skip Hop diaper bag you aren’t just paying for the name – you’re paying for the durability, the quality, and the craftsmanship, not to mention the style, that the company has to offer.
Even if your baby is too small to appreciate his or her quality diaper bag, you won’t be, and neither will friends and family members.
Fashionable and Well Made Skip Hop Diaper BagsThey might not always be able to get exactly what they want, but a Skip Hop diaper bag is usually high on their list, and for good reason. They want looks. They want quality. And they want those things at a great price, along with durability and options for different colors and styles.

When I travel, I go in style. None of that sleeping on the ground stuff that most campers do. No, I have a travel trailer with a bathroom, so I can take the comforts of home with me into the wild. I recently read an article that had me wanting to trade my current trailer for an RV. The article was called “Keeping Cool with a Retractable RV Awning and it talked about how an awning was a great feature to have. My current trailer doesn’t have an awning. So, I think I’ll go shopping next week and see what I can find.

Indeed, adventure travel can be one of the most exciting and gratifying travel one can experience. However, with the exotic places, wilderness, and virgin forests that one might consider, it is a must that every travel must know the proper way how to protect themselves and what to do first before trying the place out. More recently, my international adventure travel took me to Ecuador. While there I climbed to the furthest point from the center of the Earth. Everest is highest above sea level, but due to the Earth’s bulge at the equator, the peak of Mount Chimborazo, at 20,600 feet, is farther from from the center of our planet. The top is all snow, ice, and glaciers.

The Aude really is one of the most beautiful areas of France, located in the picturesque Southern region of Languedoc Roussillion.
If you’re looking to holiday in the South of France, and want to spend a peaceful and relaxed vacation, Aude is the truly idyllic place you’ve been looking for. Offering easy access to the Mediterranean coast and to the Pyrenean mountains, you have the choice between peace and tranquillity, or for the more energetic, skiing is an option! Alternatively, why not try a spot of sun bathing by the Mediteranean Sea.
You really are spoilt for choice when you visit the Aude.
