Where Can I Find Danube River Cruises?

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008

I want to go on the Danube River. Actually, I want to travel on the Danube from Germany all the way to Hungary. I just find it fascinating to travel on a river through different countries in Europe. I’ve worked hard all my life and just retired so I think it’s about time I treated myself to an “adventure”. But then again, I’m no Huckleberry Finn. I want a comfortable “adventure”.
I’ve been doing some research online about the best way to travel on the Danube and it turns out there are companies that offer Danube river cruises. This is exactly what I’m looking for. These cruises take you down the Danube River and you get to experience life in Germany, Austria, and Hungary along the river. One river cruise company seems pretty legit (Viking River Cruises) and the reviews I’ve read online are strong. But I’m not ready to rule out the others. Does anyone have and advice or experiences with other river cruise companies? I mean don’t get me wrong. This Viking River Cruise company seems pretty good and they do offer pretty much what I’m looking for, but I’m not one to jump at the first offer I find. Any guidance on other Danube river cruises?

Notes about a Cruise on the Danube

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008

I just have to say that if you’ve never been on a river cruise before, you should definitely experience one. I recently went on a cruise on the Danube and have to write about it. The trip was excellent. I’d never been on a river cruise before and it’s much different than your typical ocean cruise. The ships are a bit different but that’s expected since huge ocean cruisers are too big for many rivers. And when I say different, I’m simply referring to the overall size and look. The cruise ship I was on for my Danube river cruise was very nice and elegant. In any regard, the cruise was very nice. I discovered new cities, met great people, and was finally able to live my dream of visiting Budapest (it was a stop on the cruise). And best of all, I didn’t have to pay for it. The trip was a gift from my 5 children. The Danube river cruise I went on through Viking River Cruises was amazing and I can’t thank my children enough for getting me this lovely gift. I guess it pays to have 5 kids after all J.

Survival Medical Kit

Monday, March 31st, 2008

Here are the things that Mark always takes along on any camping trip. And you’ve got to have your Medical Survival Kit

1. The most important piece of paper that any camper must have is the map, which will serve as a guide to show where they are going. Mark always bought a new one every year since nature has its way of changing things over time.

2. Mark was a soldier trained in the old school. While many troops relied on the global positioning system, this person still felt that the compass was still better choice. This device isn’t powered by batteries and can be used anytime together in conjunction with a map in hand.

Caribbean Island Cruise

Friday, March 28th, 2008

Besides the usual, you need to pack suitable attire for many occasions like formal evening wear as well as beach, deck and other casual wear. These are ideal opportunities to dress up which many of us do not get the chance to do these days so the ladies will want at least two evening gowns and the men will require a tuxedo.

The great thing about cruise vacations is that if you take your children along you can be sure they will have a fun filled time. There will be probably more for your children to do than at a standard resort, in fact you probably won’t see them much during the day.

For kids, there are all kinds of activities on board family cruises. From special times in the pool, to special gym classes, the kids are at least seemingly the focus on a family cruise. If you have older kids, there are also teen centers on board some cruise ships. One reason that family cruises are a great idea is that most of the costs are included in the base price of the trip.

Avoiding The Threats Of Periodontal Disease

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

Breaking down the medical term periodontal disease - “periodontal” refers to the immediate area surrounding a tooth. But, for most of us, the gums are what dentists are referring to when they speak of periodontal. Periodontal disease is actually a bacterial infection in the mouth that can destroy your gums and ultimately cause your teeth to become loose and fall out. The mouth is an absolute breeding ground for bacteria. It is both moist and warm which makes it the perfect medium to cause periodontal problems. Now there are over twenty different types of bacteria growing in the mouth and most are produced within the body itself. It is high time to find a way to manage the harmful bacteria growing in your mouth. It is all up on how you practice periodontal disease treatment regularly: superior oral hygiene (brushing and flossing), proper diet, regular dental checkups, and quitting smoking and alcohol. A natural mouthwash can be a great help as well to destroy those nasty bacteria in the mouth.

Travel in western Iowa

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

I wanted to do some traveling close to home, somewhere in the western Iowa tourism region, so I grabbed the car keys and hit I29 north. There were some really wonderful views of the hills from the interstate. If people think Iowa is all flat they should see this side of the state. The hills were made by blowing dust in prehistoric times. The dirt piled up much like sand dunes and formed some magnificent cliffs and bluffs. In fact, for those lf you who don’t know, it was these bluffs that Council Bluffs was named for. On the other side of the highway you can catch glimpses of the Missouri river in all of it’s splendor. I pulled into some kind of sanctuary along the way and there was a tour going on. It seems the migration north has started for several species of birds. I observed eagles which I was told now nest in the area. There were also quite a few geese but they were all Canadian geese, as I was growing up we lived on the flight path for geese and I remember there were always snow geese along with the Canadian geese. Maybe it was just because it was a different flight path.
