My brother has been trying out a new product that helps him get protein for his renal diet. First, pour the charcoal bricketts into the bottom of the grill, below the rack. Fill it just until it covers the bottom with a little more charcoal in the very center, like a small hill shape. Next, soak the charcoal bricketts with lighter fluid about 5 or 10 minutes before you want to start cooking. Finally, light the bricketts with a match or firestick. When the charcoal starts turning light grey around the edges, it is time to put the food on the rack to begin cooking. Keep a small, squirt water bottle handy in case the flames flare up from greasy drippings, so the food won’t burn.

Learning how to use a charcoal grill is easy, and only takes a few times to get the hang of it. Once you have cooked outdoors this way, it will be hard to eat any other way!

I love easy recipes made with hamburger and a dinner made with ground beef and potatos almost guarantees I’ll show up to eat. I make a hamburger potato casserole that practically guarantees I’ll over eat. Hamburger casserole recipes are some of the easiest things there are to make.

If you already have a few ground beef recipes I can give you two tips, right now, maybe three, to make them better.

When doing anything with ground beef, frying, grilling, broiling, etc. make sure you get the outside of the hamburger, brown. There is nothing that tastes worse than grey ground beef.

Always, always salt and pepper the outside of the meat before you start cooking it. Even if you are breaking it up and browning it for a casserole. It will make a huge difference in the taste.

It goes very well with a lettuce salad. It also goes very well with grape, strawberry or raspberry jam sandwiches. Oh, an you’ll probably have to add more salt to it after you put it on your plate. I always have to because I always get scared about how much salt I’m adding when mixing the ingredients and browning the hamburger and onion.

If you want a different taste you can substitue a can of cheddar cheese soup. You can also use about any cream soup you like except tomato. I know people who make it wih cream of mushroom and cream of chicken or cream of onion if you can find it. Another thing you can do is put some cheese on top of it for the last 5 minutes in the oven.
