Beginners Guide To Swinging A Golf Club (Part 1)

Monday, September 3rd, 2007

Learning how to make a great golf swing every time you step up to the ball takes years of practice and skill. When practicing your swing, it must be one fluid motion of grace and finesse, from the start of the backswing to impact, and finally, the follow through.

The Backswing

The backswing is the initial movement of the golf club and it is responsible for setting up and defining everything that follows. If you have a poor backswing, then unfortunately everything else that follows will be unsatisfactory and the end result will be poor shot.

Follow this link to find out how important the backswing is for a great golf swing.

Developing the Rhythm of your Golf Swing

Monday, August 20th, 2007

The rhythm of a proper golf swing can be measured in two parts, from the time the club leaves the ball until it stops at the top of the backswing, and from the time it starts to move again until it hits the ball. The club must stop at the top, at the instant required to reverse its direction, whether we feel or realize it or we don’t. No object, not even a golf club, can be travelling in opposite directions at once.

Pre-Golf Exercises Loosen You Up

Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

Golf requires concentration and a relaxed mood – and relaxed muscles. Before a game, the worst thing you can do is to rush to the course, pull your shoes on and dash to the tee with your clubs where your pals are waiting. Do that and you can be sure to make a mess of the first hole – or at least the first shot – and that can affect your mood for the whole game. Don’t do it! Here’s a simple alternative.

Teaching Children the Game of Golf

Thursday, July 5th, 2007

Once the child has entered school and has a good handle on the swinging and putting techniques learned through observation, it is time to start teaching the game of golf. School aged children are accustomed to verbal instruction and can listen to explanations about the game better than their preschool counterparts. You need to keep in mind, however, that they are still children! They will thrive on encouragement, and all teaching sessions should be kept upbeat!

Start by taking your child to the driving range. Show your son or daughter how to hit the ball correctly, aiming for distance. The driving range is a good place to start since there is not a specific target they must reach, so the child is less likely to get frustrated. After the child demonstrates aptitude on the driving range, you can head to the course. By this point you should be able to tell whether or not your child is going to share your love for the game of golf.

Parents need to remember that no matter how hard they try, not all children have the same likes and dislikes that their parents have. If you have introduced your child to the game of golf, and he or she does not enjoy it, try not to push them. By pushing, you might find that you drive your child away from the game. All you can do is give them the experience at an early age, and they must come to a conclusion about the game on their own.

Golf Swing Instructions Can Help and Also Hinder Your Game

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

While traipsing through the woods, or an adjacent fairway looking for your ball, you may give serious thought to taking golf swing instructions from someone who really understands the game. Teaching the basic mechanics of the game is quite possible and sometimes even golf swing instructions can keep your ball out of the woods, but it is important to realize that if you are going to spend the money on lessons you should follow the instructor’s advice.

If you ever heard someone complain about spending money on golf swing instructions and still having to chase balls out of bounds, then they probably either did not listen to the instructor, or had an instructor who did not listen to them.
